General Knowledge of The Telecommunication Business

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) defines the telecommunication business as follows:

  • The telecommunication service is the transmission or reception of signals, message, images, audio, or processes related to radio frequencies, visuals, or electromagnetics.

The Office of The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) is the regulating authority for telecommunication services to ensure maximum benefit for the people. Under the Telecommunications Business Act B.E. 2544 (2001) and Telecommunications Business Act B.E. 2549 (2006), the following terminology is defined:

  • Telecommunication services are defined as services relevant to telecommunication according to the allocation committee for frequencies, radio services, broadcasting, television radio, and telecommunication services
  • Telecommunication business operations are defined as telecommunication service providers
  • Telecommunication numbers are defined as numbers and letters or symbols or the combination used to indicate locations within the telecommunication network
  • Telecommunication networks are defined as groups of directly linked telecommunication devices or hubs which allows telecommunication connectivity with the destination through landlines, frequency systems, optical systems, magnetic systems, or other electrical systems or the combination
  • Connectivity is defined as the linking of the origin group to the destination group by means of telecommunications according to the technical and commercial framework
